About This Menu

This is the CSS Multilevel Dropdown menu. It has up to two dropdowns, but can be used as a single dropdown or with no dropdowns at all.

The menu item "2 Dropdowns" has two levels of dropdowns that go to the right.

The items "1 Dropdown" have a single dropdown.

The items "Home" and "CSS Vertical Menu" have no dropdowns and go to another page.

The rightmost "2 Dropdowns" menu item has 2 levels, but the second level goes to the left, which is a unique feature.

Features

The CSS Multilevel Dropdown menu has these outstanding features:

  • CSS only -- no JQuery, JavaScript or plugins!
  • Any URL can be put in any menu item, unlike the Thesis 1.6 menu
  • Completely compatible with Thesis 1.5x and Thesis 1.6
  • Works with Windows IE 7, IE8, Chrome, Firefox and all Mac browsers
  • Very customizable -- size, colors, arrows, etc
  • Very easy to set up and use. No configuration required -- it works right out of the box! You can set it up in 15 minutes!
  • Great SEO: Menu items are included in the page HTML so Google and other 'bots can index them
  • Coexists fully with JQuery plugins such as Featured Content Gallery
  • Very small CSS file takes up few system resources
  • Instant operation. No lags and flickering like JQuery menus.
  • Can have dropdowns to the left as well as to the right.

The Tutorial

There is a tutorial on Thesis Theme Tools that will provide all the information you need to put the CSS Multilevel Dropdown menu on your site.

It includes a zip file with all the files and arrows for your convenience.

Other Demos on This Page

There are several other demos on this page:

  • Changing Header Image. The header image on this page is different from the Rotating Header Image on the front page. This is done with conditional tags in custom_functions.php.
  • Widgetized "Fat" Footer. Note that it can hold anything a regular sidebar can -- the widgets work exactly the same. Learn more about this footer on Thesis Theme Tools in the article Tutorial: Widgetized "Fat" Footer.
  • This Tabbed Info Pane. It can put a lot of information in a small space, and can hold anything you can put in HTML and PHP, even widgets! The tutorial is found in the Thesis Theme Tools article Tutorial: Tabbed Info Pane.
